The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?
--Jeremiah 17:9
Most of realize we need change in our lives. But here's the straight-up truth. You and I cannot create change in and of ourselves.
You can try all the therapy in the world. And therapy from a Christian perspective, from a biblical perspective, can be helpful. You can also try behavior modification, self-help programs, and books. All are good options, but not good enough!
And here's why. The heart of the human problem is the problem of the human heart. Jeremiah 17:9 puts it this way, "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately sick; who can understand it?" This is our lost condition... the unsaved condition of every person on earth. To really change our hearts we must take what the Scripture says and live it!
Are you doing this? It's important that you do, because God is holy and each of us will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ. Now, as Christ-followers, we won't be judged for our sins. Those were forgiven on the Cross. But we will be judged based on the condition of our hearts... the stewardship of our lives... and our service for Christ.
His gift to you is eternal life. But your gift to him will be measured by how much you loved and served others on his behalf.
THE HEART OF THE HUMAN PROBLEM IS THE PROBLEM OF THE HUMAN HEART.
